Hazzard hosts reception for Down Camogs

Sinn Féin MLA Chris Hazzard has welcomed the Down Camog's who won the All Ireland title last Sunday to a reception in Stormont.

Mr Hazzard stated,

"It was a great pleasure to host a reception for the Down Camogs that won an All Ireland title last Sunday when they beat a strong Kerry team 1-16 to 10 points in Naas.

"Every body associated with this team deserves credit for their hard work and dedication to the GAA and winning of an All Ireland title is testament to that work and dedication.

"All Ireland titles at any level don't come easy so the girls, the management and their parents should be so proud of this achievement.

"The management team led by Paul Boyle and the Down County Camogie Chairperson Deirdre McGrath and team mentors Paul, Roisin, Ann, Noreen and Jim deserve a special mention in ensuring that this team lived up to their potential.

"I also like to congratulate Down captain Niamh Mallon from Portaferry GAC who has just picked up her second College All star award.

"The girls enjoyed a great reception in Stormont which included a tour and refreshments and I would like to thank UUP MLA John McCallister for co-sponsoring the event.

"Eimear Dynes one of the girls from the team provided us with the entertainment with a lovely song and a special thanks to St.Patricks Grammar Knock who kindly put on a bus for their pupils to attend the event and to Patsy O'Hagan for designing the glass trophy and Cafe Thyme in Castlewellan who donated the cake.
